AUSTRIA · DIRECTIVE 2023/970

Transposition still in progress — but the floor is already set.

Austria is still working through its transposition. In practice the groundwork is unusual: collective agreements (Kollektivverträge) already define minimum rates per grade for most sectors, which gives employers a starting structure the directive can build on.

WHAT TO DO NOW

Four things worth doing before the deadline

01Use your Kollektivvertrag grades as the starting skeleton, then evaluate roles against the EU factors.
02Document the reasoning behind pay above the collective minimum — that is where gaps hide.
03Watch the draft law; Austria has not finalised thresholds and penalties.
